Gao Ran's face was pale
and scary: "You blame me for ruining your relationship with Gao Xi? But
this is originally mine. I told you the real person who saved you is me, so you
blamed me for telling you the truth?"
Gu Cheng Yao closed his
eyes in pain. If there wasn’t Gao Ran or if he didn't accompany Gao Xi back to Duke
Yingguo Mansion back then, what would happen? He still thought that Gao Xi was
the girl who saved him. The sweetness of the first month of their marriage
could continue. Gao Xi would slowly let go of her defense and spikes, becoming
coquettish and clingy, perhaps very soon, they would have their first child...
But that would never be
possible, and he would never have the chance to know if he hadn't treat Gao Xi
coldly, would they have become a couple. Gao Xi was dead, and his father got
out of his mother's influence and married Lin Wei Xi.
Gu Cheng Yao's obsession
with life-saving grace was all influenced by Shen shi. The impact of childhood on

about Yan Wang’s life-saving grace to her, in the end the two broke through the

At first Gu Cheng Yao
thought that the person was Gao Xi, the two get along well in the first month,
but then Gu Cheng Yao found out that he had been deceived. The person who saved
him was not Gao Xi, but Gao Ran. Gu Cheng Yao couldn't bear such deception, more
so couldn’t prevent the faint condemnation in his heart. Shen shi had great
admiration for life-saving grace, if he continued to treat the false benefactor
Gao Xi well, it would be like betraying his mother.
Therefore, the following
things was out of control. He married Gao Ran, his real benefactor, but he
couldn't find his original feelings. Before he could develop a relationship
with Gao Ran, he learned that Gao Ran used despicable means to frame Yun Hui and
always slander her sister Gao Xi.
Yun Hui had been with Gu Cheng
Yao for eleven years, and in his heart she was like an older sister. Gao Ran
even used the crime of adultery to slaughter Yun Hui. Gu Cheng Yao couldn't
bear it. In particular, what Gu Cheng Yao couldn't accept was the truth about
the sisters Gao Xi and Gao Ran that Yun Hui revealed.
What was true and what
was false?
With so many things
happened, why Gao Ran thought they could go back to the beginning? Gu Cheng Yao
felt more and more that it was too arbitrary for him to fall in love with

Gao Ran's tears slipped
uncontrollably from her eye, her knuckles turned white, and she exhausted all

"Nothing." Gao
Ran replied lightly. She held the table and slowly sat on the embroidered stool.
The words from the
previous life were true, men are unreliable. Only money, power, and brother from
the same parent would not betray you.
A fierce light flashed in
Gao Ran's eyes. How could she catch a tiger if she didn't enter the tiger's
lair. She must let her younger brother become the heir of Duke Yingguo Mansion.
All those who stand in the way must die.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a psychologist, but I'm gonna say GR has NPD. Her inability to take any blame for her actions smacks of narcissism.

DeleteI just saw a youtube video explaining how a narcissistic person thinks of themselves and everyone else and it really does match GR thought process. She thinks too highly of herself (and thinks everyone else thinks of her like that too). She thinks others are worthless if they don't benefit her and seriously lacks basic empathy.
DeleteI hope GR gets her comeuppance really soon. Tired of GCY's whining. He has had no single reflective thought, its all blaming or excuses.

DeleteLet's face it - I don't say it from my personal or modern day point of view but from my rusty understanding about Confucian China - Shen Wangfei was first of all a total failure as a main wife. (Again from Confucian point of view a MAIN WIFE is a 25/8 full time job, where you have to manage the household (food, clothing, expenditures, back yard etc.), educate ALL children in the house until a certain age and manage the servants) She would be good enough as a concubine but definitely not main wife material. She not only refused to manage the estate so the old Madame had to do it till death. She also spoiled her son to the heaven. When the old Madame has taken it upon herself to educate the kid, she started bawling about old Madame bullying him (go figure...) So in the end GCY grew up as spoiled and uneducated as herself. As for why GHY didn't educate his son himself - same reason. It is not the man's job. The man started education in the child teens when it was time to find a male successor. But at that time GCY already grew wild and did what he wanted because of his early education or lack thereof.
Also the only relationship he’s ever seen between a man and a woman is his mother and father (this is ancient times you don’t just go over to a friend place and see another Family Dynamic )and because of his mother’s interference and delusional way of seeing the world he thought that was a Ideal relationship. even now days because the first marriage kids ever see are their parents that’s what they tailor their own married relationships from. Basically he doesn’t understand women and their responsibilities in life(they basically run the family) because his own mother never took responsibility for any actions she took. So that moral ground work was never there for him he couldn’t build anything on (twisted logic ) And doesn’t understand responsibilities as a husband (as his father Said he was absent and the mother‘s crying stopped his grandma education) by the time he realised how badly he mess up GX was already gone. while I’m not saying he was right just that His actions make sense.For someone Who will not seek out the truth if he Already has an idealistic version told to him 🤦♀️
DeleteNot to forget, when his mother alive, he was spoilt rotten and grew listenign such delusional story, then after she died he was basically raised by a maid. And a greedy maid like Bu Mama at that.

At least, he admitted that he has been an incompetent father and neglected him all this time.
Because he indeed was like that. Education was women's duty according to their value, true, but since there were no mother and no grandmother anymore, it should have been him who take care of it.
He knew that Bu Mama was not a good thing, he should have arranged a better Mama for him if he can#t be around.
But well... regret comes late, it is always like that.
Thank you for this chapter. I am hoping that GCY will will banish GR soon or GHY will punish her and send her to a temple to reflect for the rest of her life. And also her brother will never be the heir!

GK is clever but he might not be used to "women scheming", like GR using drug, causing misunderstanding, ruining reputation, etc. I am afraid now that GR has lost GCY's trust she won't stop to anything...

Now he only try to give himself excuses for what he did and put all the blame on GR
Gu Cheng Yao is inherited mental illness from his mother.
